This months we had a regular pink box but the contents were themed for ‘Nostalgia’ – covering beauty through the decades. It was pretty disappointing to get a repeat item this month again, the ModelLauncher Safari Bronzer, but I really enjoyed the rest of the box.
I do videos that aren’t GlossyBox Unboxings or Catchups occasionally – though that really is the bulk of the content – so here is a little catchup of those!
First up is my third Year Long Review of GlossyBox; I look at how much value I got as a how, how much it cost, all the stuff I got, is it worth it and lots of other good things. It’s a really good long term look at the service – as opposed to the month to month shiny and new unboxings!
I was actually a little late getting this one up, so it’ll only be about 5 months or so until the fourth yearly review of the service, if I have it at that point!
And I also got around to recording an end-of-the-year cleaning-out-all-of-this-junk empties video! It always feels fun and relaxing to do these, it’s nice to look back and see what things I really liked and used them all up, what I want to rebuy, and what really didn’t stand up to use in the long term.
Just a quick catchup round up post again; this time of the January 2018 UK GlossyBox videos from YouTube, this was a regular pink box with a very ‘New Year, New You’ theme. I had another major dislike with this box in the form of overpriced and not very safe feeling beauty supplements, but other than that disappointment – the box was actually a lovely, high value and well curated set. Hopfully we won’t see another supplement style item again, otherwise I feel like I really would have to cancel the service!
The initial Unboxing:
And then the Catchup, yo:
The February Galentines Day box is here, and you can head on over to my YouTube channel StudiousOctopus if you want to see it right away!
Back again with another update and upkeep post, yo! So I am pretty much fully recovered now illness wise. Both me and my other half ended up having the quite bad flu that has been going around this year, we were sick really badly for about a week, and then kind of just an annoying lingering light sickness for pretty much a whole month now, whoosh! I am glad to be feeling a little better, and glad that it is just starting to lighten up again at night – 2017 is over, January 2018 is almost over too. Could warmer weather get here now?
November’s Unboxing and Catchup:
And then the December Unboxing and Catchup:
Out of the two boxes, December’s box really was my favourite. It was a nearly perfect box; the only downside being a Lypsyl lip balm with a really weird aftertaste but as the lowest value item in the box, it really wasn’t that upsetting! I loved everything else there though.
I have a few other recent bits and pieces up on YouTube, including the first GlossyBox of 2018 but I’ll add them in later posts…
I’ve lost track a little of posts here and there, so we’re a little behind here on the website compared to the YouTube channel.
Here is September’s GlossyBox unboxing, and the Catch Up:
The stand out product for me for this box really was the facial oil, despite not liking the scent hugely (a bit too overpowering, as my personal preference is for relatively low scent facial products) – it still makes me skin feel wonderfully moisturised and pampered, and has lasted well into the winter months since it is actually a full size product in ml, we just received one in slightly less fancy packaging than the retail version!
And then onto October’s GlossyBox unboxing and Catch Up:
In October it was very interesting to finally try a Makeup Revolution eyeshadow palette; while I have some of their other products, I have never tried eyeshadow and they seem like a good find! Similarly priced to MUA, they have better bright colours in my opinion, whereas MUA is more of a go to brand for neutrals and shimmers. I also loved the Lord & Berry eyebrow pencil, though it was a shame I didn’t get one with a spoolie on the end!
That’s it for this set, November’s unboxing and Catch Up will be up soon, the Catch Up is being edited now!
Here’s the latest YouTube and GlossyBox round up, the August unboxing…
And then the catch up a few weeks later…
This box was sadly a rare disappointment! I usually find one or two items in the box are good enough, and cost enough to make each individual box worth the price of admission. This time I only really liked the SportFX face mist and the travel Batiste dry shampoo – whose combined price was only £7.49. I hope I have better luck with the September box, which has already been dispatched, and should be here soon.
So little life update, we’ve been very busy and stressed with lots of different things recently. My other half was made redundant which sucks, and then started a new job! We had a lot of different things to do to in quite succession: my brothers wedding, a get together of some friends moving away from the UK, celebratory dinners for finishing exams for other people in the fam fam. So the website has gotten a little left by the wayside, despite the fact that videos have in fact still been being produced, both on my StudiousOctopus beauty YouTube, and the And So Begins gaming YouTube that I’m part of!
So here’s a few of my recent Beauty Videos:
And as a nice catch up on And So Begins, we’ve been playing…
And other good stuff!
So, now that all that hectic-ness is over and done with, hopfully I’ll be back to more regular website maintenance. Until Next Time!
